I come from a place where we breathe through the cracks of a broken heart
Covers of agony and pillows drenched in tears are lullabies to a loneliness that is hovered by loud silence
But the burden could not define me
It poisoned me while posed like a poise blanket
But I had to break out
I learned how to fly with my mind bending air
I learned to listen and feel
The air is enhaled freely
Graciously arising parts within that have laid in atrophy for eons
To witness forgiveness give birth to freedom
I could appreciate life
We rise again to witness pure energy
Yes now I’m bright, I shine a reflection
With a burning disre to live
And as we journey this earth we heal and learn to laugh and love again
That’s what I call freedom

This piece is inspired by my business coach Tshepo Matlou. When he bought my book Pieces of Expressions and paged through it; he came across a piece titled Dear Self, he called me to tell me that he had written a similar piece some time ago. Later that night he shared his version with me. “Skeem please publish a book”, I said to him. A month later I was holding a copy of Tshepo’s book titled Freedom😊☀️

My mom asked me to pass this book to her once I’m done reading it. And now Tshepo’s mom is living like we live
