Don’t mourn me when I’m gone
Celebrate me while I’m alive
Have less “remember when” I’ve passed
All the unsaid “thank you, I love you, I appreciate you”
will be acknowledged underground
where I will be a feast for the living creatures of the soil
I might not even be fertile ground for feeding the needy
I might be someone’s heartbeat – if I find a match

Or someone’s breath
if my organs are still healthy enough after all the drugs
I’ve had to swallow just to stay sane
Call me crazy, that’s what you see right?
For saying the right thing at the wrong time
Maybe my heart betrays me – portrays me nuts
Cash who’s money if I am gifted and broke
That I land on the floor drowning in my own scars
Until I remember the face that brought me to earth
The soul that revives my inner strength
and remind me to live
to make difference
to mark my existence
Live it with me!
Or leave it with me
Just don’t mourn me when I’m dead
if you can’t celebrate me alive
as your child
your friend
your teacher
your life
I wanna live it with you.
